Girls' Fun Day Out

This is spring break week for Katie, and we decided that I would take yesterday off to spend with the girls, doing something FUN!

Like any good day off, we started by sleeping in a little.  After breakfast, we got dressed, then watched a little bit of a movie we had on the DVR since the YMCA nursery wasn't open yet.  Then we went over to the Y so I could work out and the girls could play.  They always like going there, playing with different toys than what we have at home, and working on various crafts to show me.

I showered up at the Y, then the girls and I were off to our next destination:  the credit union!  Since Katie gets an allowance now, she decided she wanted to get a bank account.  Natalie, of course, had to have one, too. The night before, we counted out all the piggy banks to see how much the initial deposits would be.  Let's just say I was fairly impressed at what they'd stashed away!  So we set up savings accounts for each of them, and the woman there was so sweet, letting the girls put their coins in the machine and help count their own bills.  They also got Kids Club folders full of information, games, and coloring pages.  How neat!

It was nearing lunch time, and the girls wanted tacos at Moe's.  Knowing what we were going to do for dessert, I drove to the Moe's that is farthest from our house because that's the one that's closest to The Cupcake Spot.  Hooray, cupcakes!  We love going there, but it is a bit pricey, so it's always a treat for us.  We picked our cupcakes (mine was Key Lime Pie!), gobbled them up, then bought 2 more to take to Colin and his dad.  The girls had so much fun.  Katie had chocolate crumbs from head to toe.  Literally.  Colin and his dad were very appreciative of the tasty treats we brought back for them!

We came back to the house and Natalie was sooooo tired.  Unfortunately, I think she was overly tired, because she didn't nap well at all.  Katie rested for a bit, then played Barbies.  Once the girls were up, we planted our tiny little flower pots we'd received from the Easter Bunny, plus a couple more we had at the house.  We got those out on the back porch to get some good sunshine, and then came back in to finish the movie they'd started in the morning.  With them engrossed in that, I cleaned the kitchen and started supper.  We also talked to my mom for a while and enjoyed just hanging out and playing at the house.

It sure was a fun day with my girls! I'm glad I was able to take time off in the middle of the week to make it happen.  :)

  2. I love how your girls have piggy banks and started saving. I think that's a very important part of teaching kids. My parents instilled the "save for rainy day" idea when I was little. :) It's something they will benefit for life.

Sounds like a wonderful day packed with activities and yummies!
