So after two weeks, this early morning workout stuff has not been too bad. It is so quiet and calm outside before everyone gets up! And after 2 weeks, I have gotten more used to it and not been quite as tired at work during the day.
Sunday, though, I think I tweaked something in my right ITB area. It felt funny when I was still about a mile from home, like it was cramping up, so I slowed up a little. And really, it wasn't too bad, but then when I made the turn from the main road into our subdivision, it twinged quite a bit. I slowed more, and eventually just walked the last couple blocks home. I hated, hated, hated walking, but I had to. It feels a little stiff, and stairs are slightly uncomfortable, but I'm surviving. Hopefully some ice, Icy Hot, and rest will help it before I run again on Tuesday.
In other running news, at church, Michelle proposed that we start a group to train for a local half marathon in November where a bunch of moms can all do it together. She's doing the Disney Princess Half at the end of February, and I'm doing the 15K in town right after that, so this November race is still a ways off. It would be fun, though. I don't have anyone to run with, and Michelle often runs with one other person, but if we could get a bigger group, women of all speeds, it might be fun to do our long runs together like that, and then race together. Something to think about!
I think it's great that you might have some group running options for longer runs and races! Hope you can take it easy and are fully recovered by the time your Tuesday run rolls around.
ReplyDeleteI think it is great to have a group of running folks together. There's safety in numbers, right? But be sure to stipulate "meet at (time) sharp." And no waiting.
ReplyDeleteThis was the rule that the small group I ran with had and it was wonderful. They stucked by the rule. The run starts on time. No wishy-washy or let's wait for one more minute or so-and-so said she will try to be here.
Hope your rest will fix that twinge.
P.S.: You are tagged! Check my latest post!
I hope you do get a running group together. I love running with other people. It holds me accountable, I push myself more, it makes long runs go faster. Hope your knee is doing better!
